There’s a reason why people in the UK clean their windows on average only 4 times a year: it's a thankless chore that takes far too much time… enough to lose an entire day of your weekend!
However, it’s now possible for individuals to get their windows cleaned cheaply by an expert.
But how much does it really cost?
Thanks to our window cleaning service, we already helped hundreds of Brits to see the outside in HD...
In this guide, I’ll explain everything you need to know about the price of such service.
OK, let’s start by explaining why hiring a window cleaner makes sense because, after all, you could do it yourself!
And it's true if you have a small flat, it might be more economical to do it yourself.
At most, if you hire a housekeeper (which you can do here), you could add window cleaning to their schedule whenever you notice they’ve become dirty.
But as you'll see, if you have quite a few windows to clean, the time lost (in addition to the deadly boredom) can quickly add up.
I’ve compiled all our window cleaning requests and estimated that it takes on average :
Which comes to around 20 minutes per window. We’re talking about standard single-hung windows of regular size found in most flats.
Calculate this based on the number of windows you have at home, and you'll quickly see that the minutes add up… and if you have sliding glass doors or a conservatory, you can bet you’ll spend the entire day cleaning.
A professional window cleaner will do the job perfectly with specialised products that keep the windows clean and sparkling for longer.
Of course, we’re not even talking about certain exterior windows that are hard to reach and require some real acrobatic skills.
In short, cleaning windows is a huge time waster, while hiring a window cleaner at home isn’t very expensive (we’ll tell you more about the cost below).
The great thing about windows is that, in general, they tend to be a similar size throughout the house. This makes it easy to calculate if you want to request window cleaning services.
To calculate the surface area of the windows to be cleaned, it’s simple. Take a measuring tape and multiply the length of the pane by the width.
In our example, we have a window that measures 150cm by 100cm, or 1.5 meters by 1 meter.
1.5 x 1 = 1.5m²
Simple as that.
Another example :
For a window that measures 80cm x 70cm, you type into your calculator: 0.8 x 0.7 = 0.56m²
Then, simply multiply by the number of windows, and you’ll get the total m², which you can share with your window cleaner to decide on the price.
With Yoojo, the service providers will adapt their pricing specifically adapted to the job you are asking for. You can negotiate the price, and you don't pay anything if you don't find the right person.
Let’s talk about what interests you the most: the price!
If you're starting to get interested in professional window cleaning, I’ll explain here how much you can offer your window cleaner for a fair service.
In general, the hourly rate is calculated per square meter and ranges between £1 to £2 per m².
It can go up to £5/m² for conservatories where access to the windows is difficult.
On Yoojo, the average hourly rate for window cleaning is:
If they have casements, old fragile wood, or are simply hard to clean and your window cleaner needs special equipment, you might want to add a few pounds to the hourly rate.
