Remember the first time you cleaned your patio? It was a revelation, like night and day.
Halfway through, it probably looked something like this:
The moss has started to show up again, but this time, despite trying all of our organic methods yourself, you want to leave the task to a professional patio cleaner.
Problem:
You have no idea how much it costs!
Don’t worry, I’ve put together a practical guide for you with price tables per square metre, a comparison based on different materials, and even an overview of average prices by region!
Hourly billing is quite uncommon for this kind of service.
Although it does exist on Yoojo, where the average hourly rate for patio cleaning is:
🧹 How many square metres can be cleaned in 1 hour?
However, if you request quotes from any patio cleaning company, there’s a 99% chance they’ll offer a price per square metre.
Check out the rates just below!
Let’s get into the details with the average cost per square metre for a basic patio clean.
We compared two types of services:
professional cleaning companies
domestic cleaning services
Here’s a summary table of the average rates*:
Service | Professional cleaning companies | Gardeners on Yoojo | Hire a cleaner |
---|---|---|---|
Patio cleaning | £5 |
£3 |
|
*How did I calculated these average rates:
For the professional companies:
I requested 7 quotes from a range of specialised businesses and sole traders across the UK, then averaged the prices.
For domestic service providers:
We compiled the prices from over 80 patio cleaning jobs booked on Yoojo and calculated the total average.
Among the quotes from professional cleaners:
The highest rate was £15 per m² (wooden patio)
The lowest was £3.50 per m² (tiled patio)
How to calculate your patio size in m²
It’s simple, you just multiply the width (W) by the length (L) of your patio.
Example :
A patio measuring 5 metres in length and 3 metres in width equals 15 square metres!
But the biggest difference in rates comes from the material your patio is made of.
I’ll explain it all to you!
Our analysis of prices showed a significant difference depending on the type of terrace you have and your specific cleaning needs.
Here's a summary table of the prices and an explanation of why there’s such a range.

|

Because Yoojo is a platform where service provider set their own prices!
Because you can hire help for just an hour!
With hundreds of providers near you, you save on mileage expenses.
Everything is done online with Yoojo, which means all around cheaper prices than traditional service provider
It’s simple, it all comes down to the difficulty of cleaning and the level of care needed!
Let’s take two opposite examples:
tiled terrace
wooden terrace
Tiled terrace:
Tiles are a durable material that is easy to clean thanks to their smooth, flat surface.
The professional only needs to use a pressure washer without worrying about damaging the tiles, so the price is lower!
Wooden terrace:
It’s the complete opposite of tiles.
Wood is a delicate material that needs to be brushed, treated (or even sanded) before being cleaned and requires extra care. Patience and precision are needed from the professional, which makes the price higher.
We recommend having a professional terrace cleaning done twice a year!
The first time around 20th March, at the start of spring, so you can fully enjoy your terrace during the warmer months.
The second time, at the end of autumn, once the leaves have fallen. This way, your terrace is ready for winter, and your spring cleaning will be much quicker and easier!
Statistics and averages are good for getting an idea, but concrete examples of pressure cleaning services and the actual prices paid are even better!
Find out here how your neighbours have called on our private gardeners and how much they paid.
Here, the customer paid £39 to have her 15m² terrace cleaned in London.
The customer didn’t have a pressure washer, so she asked her provider to bring theirs… no problem!
In the end, that’s a rate of £2.60 per square metre.
Sometimes, the service must take place under challenging conditions, like for this customer in Wales whose water supply is 15 metres away from the terrace!
This is no issue for the Yoojo provider who offered to carry out this 30m² cleaning for £34.
This customer from Bristol wants to book a gardener for just 2 hours to clean as much as possible without exceeding his maximum budget of £40!
No worries with Yoojo; you decide the number of hours of service you want to pay for.
The cost of a service provider’s travel can be high, which is why small cleaning jobs are often overpriced.
Not with Yoojo, as the provider who comes to your home is usually a neighbour living nearby!
So, the larger the area to clean, the lower the rate tends to be.
In this example, the customer paid just over £1 per square metre.
This is a strategy used by many customers, as seen in the example above!
Having a gardener come to complete multiple tasks at once allows you to pay less than if you booked them individually!
Take advantage of the opportunity to handle all the maintenance of your green spaces alongside the cleaning of your terrace.
They have booked gardeners through our platform and share their experiences.
