I’ll start this guide with an average price that combines all types of moves.

Perfect for those who need a quick estimate.

I calculated the average price of 36 moves of 600miles booked through one of the removal services available on Yoojo.

I also requested quotes from 5 cities (London, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham & Edinburg) and analysed average online rates to see what traditional moving companies charge.

Next, I decided to see if there’s a big price difference based on the time of year, as is often the case in the moving industry.

And sure enough:

It’s something to keep in mind, but the average price gap is just around £170… less than I expected!

We’ll start with a typical move with a volume of 129 sqft, mostly made up of boxes.

Here, the 615-mile distance has a big impact on the mover's price, but because the client didn’t have much to move, she only paid £990.

How did she do it?

She found and booked two movers on Yoojo, each with their own van.

Sometimes, this is cheaper than hiring one large truck.

Example 2: A large move with a piano

This next example is the complete opposite: the client needs a van, and the job is physically demanding.

The move is to the second floor, and there’s a piano to transport.

No problem for this client, who included all the details in their ad and was connected with movers strong enough for the job.

This client did everything right: they posted their ad (for free) well in advance, requested three movers for the job, and spent time discussing via messaging before making the best choice.

In the end, they only paid £1,230 for three movers!
