Moving 50 cubic meters is quite a large job... and with that, comes some hefty prices!
How much, you ask?
It’s hard to say, because every move is unique!
That’s why, at Yoojo, I’ve decided to analyse 50 custom moving services in the Uk of around 50 cubic meters.
In this guide, you’ll find price analysis tables based on the distance to be covered and the time of year.
And to finish, I’ll show you examples of listings posted by our customers on our platform, complete with the price paid and the service delivered!
The average price isn’t always the best figure to follow, but since I have the numbers, I’ll share them with you.
How did I calculate this?
By compiling all the data available online, collecting quotes from well-established moving companies, and analysing our own stats from 50 moves of 50 cubic meters completed via our platform.
I’ve calculated an average price. (For more details, check our guide on general price comparisons).
Here are the results:
Average price in the UK:
Average price on Yoojo:
This statistic is useful to give you a general idea, but it won’t be much help when it comes to estimating your exact costs.
What you’re really interested in is the section below: prices by distance!
Because Yoojo is a connection platform where movers set their own prices!
You can ask for help for just one hour and pay only for that time (no minimum package).
With hundreds of movers across the country, you can easily compare and choose the best offer.
80% of jobs are done between individuals for short distances (under 12 miles).
This is the most exciting, and especially the most useful, section of this guide... because it’s the most reliable statistic to estimate the cost of your move!
Check out our table for more details:
Distance | Average price for a standard move | Average price on Yoojo |
---|---|---|
Local move (less than 12 miles) | £715 | £315 |
Move around 31 miles | £1239 | £403 |
Move around 62 miles | £1840 | £725 |
Move around 124 miles | £2720 | £936 |
Move around 311 miles | £3900 | £1310 |
To ensure consistency between our figures and those of traditional movers, I focused our analysis on economy moves.
This decision was made for a simple reason: the majority of requests on our platform are for this type of service.
You probably already know that traditional moving prices fluctuate depending on the season: they can be 15% to 20% higher in summer and up to 15% cheaper in winter.
So, I decided to analyse price variations on Yoojo, just to see if the same was true on our platform.
Here’s what I found:
Month | Price variation | Average price on Yoojo |
---|---|---|
January | -3% | £727.5 |
February | -1% | £742.5 |
March | -4% | £720.0 |
April | -3% | £727.5 |
May | +3% | £772.5 |
June | +1% | £757.5 |
July | +6% | £795.0 |
August | +6% | £795.0 |
September | +2% | £765.0 |
October | -3% | £727.5 |
November | -1% | £742.5 |
December | -2% | £735.0 |
You’ll notice that prices on Yoojo remain relatively stable throughout the year.
This is probably due to the large number of affordable movers on our platform... many of whom are individuals!
No matter the season, you’ll always find someone to help. In the end, it’s really the distance of your move that will have the greatest impact on your budget.
To conclude this guide, what better way than to show you a few listings posted on Yoojo.
I’ve personally selected those from clients looking for a mover of 50m3 to 59m3.
In these listings, you’ll find information about:
💶 Total price paid: £295
📏 Volume moved: 55m3
When you’re moving 50 cubic meters or more, the distance doesn’t really matter, the price is going to be steep!
But, in this case, since our client in London wasn’t moving very far (just 6 miles), she managed to get some help for only £295!
How?
She used the competition spirit on Yoojo and chose the cheapest mover (you get to choose on our platform and the movers choose their prices)!
💶 Total price paid: £1170 (or £585 per provider)
📏Volume moved: 59m3
Now, let’s take it up a notch with a move over 134 miles... that’s a lot of road!
Here, our client originally needed 4 providers but ended up booking only two.
In the end, they managed for £1170 with a van and two extra hands... not bad!
💶 Total price paid: £630
📏 Volume moved: 51m3
This example is interesting because the client was moving far (147 miles), but they only needed a van.
No help needed with loading or unloading!
By reducing the services requested, you also reduce the cost of the move... makes sense!
Here, the client got it done for just £630 for a 147-mile move.
💶 Total price paid: £855
📏Volume moved: 50m3
Let’s finish with a big move!
Once you’re moving over 311 miles, prices really start to climb.
Luckily, despite the long distance, this client only needed the van and someone to drive it... they managed to get it done for £855!
That’s why, at Yoojo, I’ve decided to make requesting a quote completely free.
